| | good | ] | Today, in the afternoon my boss took me out to show us the new office building in Soho square, we will be shifting to the new building around next week. Soho square was buzzing with activity, I felt so good just being there, we sat in the square park for a while, discussed work and other random stuff. Later, for lunch we moved to the ISKCON temple's restaurent in the same area. The lunch was so cheap for London standards, it was just £6 pounds for the entire thalie.
The place has so much feel to it, so many restaurents, music stores, gay clubs (they generally have the best parties, dj's etc), i wouldn't mind going to one of them with a girl, so you wouldn't be bothered too much through the night. ( Zee, where in the world are you? )
I can't wait to shift to the new premises, if the Wifi is good, I can sit with so many other people in the park and just do my work.
Its a pity, I forgot to carry my camera to work today, but I made so many good memories from the first visit. |

| Announcement |
[Jun. 4th, 2007|10:45 pm] |
I quit Gameloft and taken up a new assignment with PlayerX in London. I will be helping them setup a QA studio in Pune, India.
I have arrived in London on 27th and the weather was horrid, but it was quite an expected welcome, it was freezing cold for a hyderabadie, who never experience such a cold climate before.
My pad is very comfortable, I live in central london in an service apt, next to Farringdon underground station, office is at Covent Garden, travelling in London underground is fun, its the best way to travel around the city. The network is almost fool proof, you really can't get lost unless you really messed up your planning.
I'm living quite an english life, no desis in office, except for 1 paki, I goto a pub for breakfast, lunch, tea, snacks, dinner, to discuss business, work and everything.

My colleagues at O'Neills next to my office, in Covent Garden.
I lost the count of how many pure "english beers" I had, I'm not counting the fosters, cobra's, san miguel, bud's etc. I'm in love with the english pump draught, I imagine they are brewed locally and it tastes good.

Somebody told me that english love to do their business over a cup of tea, but my limited experience tells me that its beer and not tea. The above pic was taken around 8pm next to my pad in Farringdon, the place is excellent, serves good english beer for cheap and has a sexy bar girl.
I'm walking around London everyday after work, luckily I live in Central london, so most of the famous sight seeing places are just around the corner, and the sun is out till 9pm, its a big bonus, I can walk for extended hours, I did quite a few miles in the weekend.
I figured, I like London, when it dull, cloudy and grey, maybe because I didn't experience the english winter yet, but I like it that way.

Queen Victoria Memorial, taken during one of my random walks around St.James's Park and Buckingham palace.
I did a walk by Thames from Waterloo bridge till Tower Bridge with Zee and it was excellent, you really need a beer buddy /gf/friend to enjoy your time in this city.

I'm going to Bath, Cotswold, Windsor Castle, Stone Henge, New Castle, Darlington, York, Bury, Manchester, Chelsea FC tour (Roman needs my money) and probably to Cambridge before the summer ends.
If any one of you is in London, please let me know, we can meet up for beer/dinner at Sarvana Bhavan in East Ham. *winkwink*
Neha, when do you invite me home? I'm starving for some home food.

[Apr. 2nd, 2007|11:40 pm] |
My Mumbai trip, as seen from suku's cam.

Finally, I meet Suku after waiting for her near the beautiful land mark behind, spent wonderful time near the landmark alone, ate kulfi, went boating, sat next to Vivekananda statue and read a book about the great man, which I earlier in the day picked up for free from a generous store owner in Hyd.

This Too Shall Pass
It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence, to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away." How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! How consoling in the depths of affliction!
I so love the above quote, I came across the above when I was reading Benjamin Graham literature on security analysis. |

| Musharraf on Jon Stewart show |
[Sep. 28th, 2006|06:59 pm] |
This guy seems to be incredible brave to take on jon Stewart and face his onslaught of jokes. In the end he comes out pretty unscathed.
I don't think I havent seen any country's leader in recent past who is so much media savvy.

| Goodbye cablewallah |
[Sep. 10th, 2006|01:42 am] |
Finally, after years of haggling with my cablewallah over ESPN & StarSports, I finally bid an acrimonious good bye to him. I went and bought Tata Sky from a dealer next lane for 4.5K. The clarity looks amazing, better than Zee DTH. Installation is scheduled for tomorrow.
Can't wait for next super sunday for two super matches, which could be regarded as having huge significance on the outcome of the season. Lokomotiv Chelski takes on the kops and Manure will face winless arses and plus added bonus of CL on TenSports and La Liga.
More read on DTH in India here
Oh yeah, I can finally watch NGC, Discovery and History in English. |

I first held a joystick when I was 7, way back in 1990, my first game was Activision's River Raid on my cousins Atari 2600, who just returned from gulf. It is one of the truly great addictive game and is a pleasure to play for hours on end. You pilot a plane down a river gorge and shoot enemy stuff, such as bridges, ships, and planes.
I was at awe at my cousin, the bum can roller skate, has a BMX bike, can speak fluent english, has his very own vcr with haazar cartoon tapes, has hornby train set, complete asterix and tintin collection. I just wanted whatever he had but one thing which I desperately wanted more than anything was his atari.
I begged my dad, day in and day out to buy me a video game set. He finally succumbed to my pressure and bought me a Media TV games for about 2k on one fine monsoon evening in the year 1992 when I tuned 9. I immediately made him regret the decision, by playing for hours non stop, flunking in straight 3 subjects which includes maths in Quarterly exams, getting 'C' grade for the very first time in my academics. He was pretty worried about me.
I couldn't care less, I was happy gaming in my world of Contra, spartan, pacman, mario. One find day, after getting a 'C' again in half yearly, he had enough of my TV gaming, he hid the console and lied to me that he gave it away to his friend's son.
I was angry, I protested by refusing to take food, refusing to goto school for 3 days, he was pretty annoyed, he warned me that I will become fit for nothing if I dont study. I replied curtly that I dont care, I will play video games when I grow up. Immediately, even before I can realise, a slap fell on my cheeks. The protests stopped immediately, everything went on to become normal slowly as days passed, I improved my grades in Unit test 3 and pangs of missing my video games was still around, but it used to fleet away pretty soon.
Here I'm, exactly 14 years after I got my first very own console, eking out a living by playing games.
The entire episode taught me a lesson, not to misuse any previlege you get, else it will be taken away pretty soon. My dad unhid the video games in summer vacation after I secured a 'A' grade and was passed into 5th class. |

Initial 2 years were exciting, not many new faces, everyone knew everyone, it was the days of alsoravis, sendmail sucks, lj meets, corner houses, greciaurns posts, kallu getting stuck in toilet.
Post 2002 was when blogging fad hit people, some nice people came in with the mass influx.
Last 2 years are dud boring. Exciting stuff did happen in my friends lives, but didnt hear them through LJ.
Right now, I only look forward to track journals of friends whom I met in flesh. |

Some songs remain etched in you for lyfe, making your body throw up goose bumps everytime you listen to them and today Pandora dished out one of the best or rather the least known, here you go:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmpD_IBaubY&search=Rush%20Pass
Proud swagger out of the school yard Waiting for the world's applause Rebel without a conscience Martyr without a cause
Static on your frequency Electrical storm in your veins Raging at unreachable glory Straining at invisible chains
And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge Staring down into a heartless sea Can't face life on a razor's edge Nothing's what you thought it would be
All of us get lost in the darkness Dreamers learn to steer by the stars All of us do time in the gutter Dreamers turn to look at the cars Turn around and turn around and turn around Turn around and walk the razor's edge Don't turn your back And slam the door on me
It's not as if this barricade Blocks the only road It's not as if you're all alone In wanting to explode
Someone set a bad example Made surrender seem all right The act of a noble warrior Who lost the will to fight
And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge Staring down into a heartless sea Done with life on a razor's edge Nothing's what you thought it would be
No hero in your tragedy No daring in your escape No salutes for your surrender Nothing noble in your fate Christ, what have you done? |

| GodFather on PS2 and Women |
[May. 5th, 2006|07:45 pm] |
After a long time, I fell in love with a game, I'm having so much fun playing GodFather on PS2. I can't recall when was the last time a game occupied my thoughts so much.
Its just a pity, that we only have one PS2 at the moment in the office, competition for which is too much. I'm considering buying for one myself.
I got this strip from Moca, which is hillarious.
